Babydoll Sheep Cam · Babydoll Lamb Cam
Babydoll sheep is another name for Southdown sheep which were developed in Sussex England about 300 years ago. Their short legs make them adorable but even more importantly they are too short to munch on the grapes and leaves in the vineyard. When these lambs grow a bit, they will mow the cover crop between the rows. At Navarro we put them in separate pens to bond with their mother right after they are first born. A few days later they will be put out in pasture with other ewes and lambs. Occasionally a lamb will be an orphan or its mother will not have enough milk and we will bottle feed the baby. These are called "bummer lambs" and they often become particularly friendly.
