Events for and around Anderson Valley: Here are some great excuses for you to plan a weekend in Mendocino.

10th Annual International Alsace Varietal Festival
February 7-8, 2015
Join us February 7- 8, 2015 in beautiful Anderson Valley for our 10th anniversary weekend celebration of Alsace Varietals! Taste wines from around the globe. Wineries from France, Germany and New Zealand will be pouring samples alongside wineries from Michigan, NY, OR, California and our own Anderson Valley. Enjoy perfect food pairings included in your ticket, local cheeses, Tomales Bay oysters, Alsatian style treats and more. Events include an educational session and a Grand Tasting. Navarro Vineyards will pour at the Saturday evening winemakers’ dinner at Scharffenberger Cellars, which will be orchestrated by a special guest chef. Visit winery open houses throughout the valley on Sunday the 8th.

Int'l Alsace Varietals Educational Session
Come listen to and interact with winemakers from around the globe as they discuss winemaking and grape growing specifically for Alsace varietals. Light Breakfast will be served. Topics for this year's program may include: Winemaking Secrets How does pressing/skin contact and early intervention influence wine flavor Single Vineyard Pinot Blanc Tasting Three winemakers will discuss why they choose to source their fruit from Shrader Vineyard in Mendocino County. Food and Wine Pairings With Four Varietals Tasted Lars Kronmark, Chef Instructor at CIA Greystoke and Sommelier & Wine Director, Christie Dufault will discuss food and wine pairings, focusing on the versatility of aromatic whites. You will be presented with tastes each of four varietals and be served delectable samples to showcase the effect of food on each as you taste. Master Sommelier discussion Cooking Demonstration Our guest chef will offer an educational and entertaining demonstration that highlights why so many food styles pair beautifully with the featured wines. 18th annual Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival
Mark your calendars! TICKETS ON SALE MARCH 15, 2015 Come experience Pinot Noir produced by some of California’s finest vintners, from grapes grown here in the beautiful and rugged Anderson Valley. To our knowledge, this is the only festival in the world that celebrates a single varietal from a single appellation. This festival is a three day event including a Technical Conference & social BBQ in the vineyards on Friday, Grand Tasting on Saturday with 40+ wineries participating, many elegant winemaker dinners on Saturday evening, and open houses at all area wineries on Sunday.
