Opening act. Recent Press

Sometimes we forget to answer the most obvious questions. We bottled Navarro’s last vintage of grape juices using synthetic stoppers rather than genuine corks for the first time. Judging from the number of inquiries, Navarro’s juice fans noticed. When it comes to cork stoppers for wine, we approve of Prince Charles’ public policy. European cork forests support not only cork farmers but also a tremendous percentage of Europe’s wildlife. Cork is a renewable natural resource and plastic isn’t. Wine actually ages more gracefully with cork stoppers. Unfortunately pure grape juice is a lot more susceptible to contamination than wine. Wine has alcohol to protect it, but grape juice is a perfect medium for yeast and molds. Harvested cork tree bark is stacked and dried outside over winter, an invitation to mold which we don’t feel like introducing it into our special grape juices. We work hard at cold filtering our fresh Pinot Noir Grape Juice so that it tastes as fresh as a grape on your table and in this case the sterile stopper helps. The Pinot Noir tastes like luscious rhubarb and strawberries. Drink it straight, over ice or with sparkling water.


All Navarro Juices since 2001 use a new synthetic cork, but the care we put into making juice hasn’t changed in over two decades. The synthetic corks actually cost a nickel less than real corks but for juice this wasn’t a cost saving decision. We cold filter the juice from freshly pressed wine grapes, there is no funky aftertaste of preservatives which means you should refrigerate after opening.
