The Marking Corral, named after an old sheep enclosure, rises from 1,200 to 1,260 feet and yields truly unique Pinot Noirs. It's our most challenging block to farm: rows are seven feet apart on a hillside, so tractors must tread carefully to protect the trellises. The upper area features four clones, with ENTAV 114 and 115 leading the lineup; the lower block adds ENTAV 777 and 667. It produces the lowest yield among our Pinot sites, but flavors echo wild cherries (griotte) with bright tartness, moderate tannins and an exceptionally long finish.
