Navarro's Red Roan is a complex GSM blend featuring Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, inspired by classic Rhône wines. We source our grapes from the Dolan family's Dark Horse Vineyards, located on a hillside with rich red volcanic soil just south of Ukiah. We've enjoyed a friendship with the Dolans for 50 years, which adds to our special connection. Farming here is biodynamic, aligning with Navarro's commitment to herbicide- and insecticide-free winemaking. The Grenache was the first to ripen in 2023, harvested on September 23, offering sweet fruit flavors that hint at strawberries. Two weeks later, we picked the Syrah, known for its robust tannins and black cherry notes. Finally, we harvested the Mourvèdre in mid-October, contributing earthy, forest floor characteristics to the blend.
