In the late '80s, we were excited to see the arrival of Pinot Noir clones from French nurseries, known as the "Dijon clones." We started with 113, 114 and 115 and later welcomed 667, 777 and 828. To find the best combinations for our Philo terroir, we divided each vineyard site into separate blocks for different clones and rootstocks. Clones 114 and 115 bring structure to the table, while 667 charms with its aromatic finesse and 777 delivers a lovely mix of power and elegance. In 2024, we crafted 34 exciting lots of Pinot Noir, and this bottling is a cuvée made from 16 of those lots: 34% clone 115, 26% 667, 17% 114, 12% UCD4, 6% 113 and 5% 777, all aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, 15% new.

[above] Hot air balloon above Navarro's South Hill Pinot Noir vineyard. This romantic photo was taken at harvest time 13 years ago. Unfortunately the balloon invaded our sense of privacy and the hot air furnace frightened the sheep and livestock dogs. The winds in Anderson Valley are unpredictable; consequently, the balloon flights haven't been repeated (thankfully for us and our livestock.)
During harvest the pickers dump their grapes into one of four bins. To eliminate any leaves or unwanted clusters we employ four sorters to make sure what we process is just ripe Pinot Noir. [below]

This gem snagged a Gold Medal at the West Coast Wine Competition, with judges raving about its "highly aromatic" notes of cherry dust and forest floor. We believe it captures the essence of Anderson Valley with vibrant red and black cherry notes. Sur lie barrel aging adds complexity, complemented by a toastiness from the new barrels. À votre santé! Gold Medal winner. 92 Points.

Buy it by the case for only $264.00 — a savings of $84.00! That's only $22.00 per bottle.
