An unprecedented Pinot Noir release Recent Press

Since the 1996 vintage, the best part of Navarro's Pinot Noir has been pre-sold a year before release. We call our favorite Pinot Noir the Deep End. Deep End is an old Boontling term for the chilly northwestern edge of the Anderson Valley where the grapes, cooled by ocean breezes, mature slowly and ripen late. This wine is a blend of our best lots from our best Deep End vineyards at three different elevations on Navarro Ranch.

The Marking Corral is located at 1,180 to 1,235 feet and the wine displays ripe strawberry and tart red cherry flavors. The Middle Ridge is at an elevation of 740 to 835 feet and also displays red cherry fruit with inklings of raspberry jam and pie crust. The South Hill is at 300 to 325 feet and dark fruit flavors suggest blackberry syrup, plum with hints of chocolate. Combined in the Deep End they provide a complex, seamless whole, the best of the best. Whatever the future brings, we think you will need a stellar Pinot Noir.
Instead of only offering the final blend, we offered choices that included separate bottlings of the components of this year's Deep End: Marking Corral, Middle Ridge and South Hill. Each designated vineyard site is located at a different elevation and displays unique characteristics. We think the Deep End combines them beautifully at 42%, 25% and 33% respectively.
