We opened our tasting room in 1980 in order to introduce folks to Navarro by offering tasting samples of our wines. Since currently we have only home/business delivery or curbside pickup, we have decided to provide a new way to let our friends sample four of our upcoming releases. We are now offering an Intro to Spring Sampler with a 187 ml. bottle each of four different wines and the opportunity to taste these wines along with the winemakers via Zoom
2020 Pinot Blanc, Mendocino
This bottling is 49% Anderson Valley Pinot Blanc, 40% Mendocino Pinot Blanc from Rivino Vineyards and 11% Anderson Valley Chardonnay—the Chardonnay addition, as in past vintages, is to broaden the mid-palate and lengthen the finish As our own Pinot Blanc vines have matured, the ratio from Anderson Valley has increased so this vintage is a bit more citrusy and tropical. The flavors are sunny, crisp and refreshing, a perfect complement to fresh salmon in a dill sauce.
2020 Sauvignon Blanc, Cuvée 128
2020 was a challenge. We were able to mitigate the pandemic threat by wearing masks and social distancing. We were able to deal with unwanted smoke from wildfires by repurposing red grapes to make white or rosé wines. What we couldn't change was the reality of a light crop level. In spite of selling out of our 2019 vintage four months early—indicating that we should produce more—we produced less of this vintage. Herbaceous flavors of citrus-tropical fruits with enough zest to counterbalance buttery fish and chips.
2020 Rosé of Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley
In mid-August, forest fires broke out in wine country and reminded us of 2008 when our entire red wine production was degraded by smoke. We decided that making a smoke-free Rosé of Pinot was a better option than a smoke-tainted red Pinot. Consequently, the fruit from eight fields—most previously harvested for top-quality red wine—was used in the production of this 2020 rosé. Lively, cheerful and crisp with whispers of cherry, raspberry and lime.

The four-wine sampler is priced at $25.00—non-refundable—tax and shipping* are additional. We expect to ship all the samplers before March 6 and conduct multiple tastings on March 19, 20 & 21. The first three wines will become available in 750 ml on April 1; the Grenache Rosé will become available July 1. There are only 450 samplers available and we expect them to sell out quickly; please be prompt. After you purchase a sampler you will have an opportunity to pick a tasting time.
2020 Rosé (of Grenache), Mendocino
Last year we announced that 2019 was our last bottling of this rosé as the Pallini grapes had been sold to another winery. In response to the many requests for this varietal, we sought out and found two small fields of old-vine Grenache in our county for this bottling. The 2020 is 100% Grenache without the usual Carignane addition. Vibrant notes of tart strawberry and watermelon with a medium-full bodied finish.
