Steep step

We think highly of Dark Horse's Grenache, Syrah and Mourvàdre; sited on a hillside with red volcanic soil, their vines are lovingly and professionally tended by Heath Dolan and are farmed biodynamically. 2023 was an exceptionally good vintage in the North Coast and the wines we produced from Dark Horse grapes were especially pleasing. After blending our 2023 Red Roan we had three barrels of Dark Horse Grenache Noir left which we weren't going to waste.

We also had three barrels of Grenache farmed by the Bartolomei Brothers northwest of Talmage. The wine from their grapes, when beefed up with some Syrah, blended well with the Dark Horse wine to produce this 2023 Grenache Noir. Grenache's strawberry-like core is accented with whispers of black cherry, white pepper and allspice. Gold Medal winner.
