For close to a quarter of a century we have invited Navarro friends to the winery to taste the latest vintage of our Pinot Noir from the barrel. This has allowed our customers to enjoy a centuries-old tradition of a Negotiant, a merchant who samples young wines directly from the barrel and buys them at a bargain price as a future investment, trusting a discriminating palate to discern which wines will taste the best down the line.

At Navarro we keep each vineyard lot separate throughout the initial winemaking process, meaning that each barrel sample is unique. The current pandemic makes it impossible to safely welcome guests to the cellar, so we have bottled four small airplane-sized (187 ml) bottles of 2019 barrel samples for you to taste in the safety of your home before deciding to purchase this year's
Pinot Noir Futures Offer. Three of the samples come from single-vineyard lots that are components of this year's offer:
Marking Corral,
Middle Ridge and
South Hill. The fourth sample is our
Deep End Pinot Noir, the blend the staff and family likes best. The cost of the
virtual barrel tasting kit is $50 plus tax and shipping, limited to one per household. The cost will be deducted from any Futures order you decide to make before September 30, 2020. You can sample the kit at your leisure or, with advanced reservation, join us for a virtual tasting. Please contact our tasting room to schedule a tasting. We hope you and yours stay healthy and in good spirits now and in the future.
